Indeed, understanding their needs helps create a stunning display, making Assorted Angelfish a top choice for enthusiasts.
Size and Lifespan
Angelfish grow to 15 cm in height and 7.5 cm in length. With optimal care, they live 8-12 years. Therefore, maintaining stable water conditions is crucial. Additionally, a balanced diet enhances their vibrant colors. As a result, your Angelfish become a long-lasting centerpiece, bringing beauty to your aquarium for years.
Ideal Tank Setup
To keep Angelfish thriving, replicate their natural habitat. Specifically, use a tall, spacious tank with gentle filtration. Moreover, moderate lighting for 8-10 hours daily mimics their environment. Keep water at 26°C-28°C and a pH of 6.5-7.5. To replicate their natural habitat:
- Choose a 150-liter tank for ample space.
- Add tall plants like Amazon sword for cover.
- Use a low-flow filter to reduce stress.
- Test water regularly to maintain stability.
Compatible Tank Mates
Young Angelfish suit community tanks, but adults may turn territorial. Thus, select calm, similarly sized fish to avoid conflicts. For instance, small or fin-nipping species can stress them. Suitable tank mates include:
- Large tetras, like Black Skirt Tetras
- Peaceful cichlids, such as Bolivian Rams
- Corydoras catfish
- Calm gouramis
Diet and Feeding
Angelfish, being carnivorous, need protein-rich foods. For example, offer high-quality flakes, pellets, and live or frozen brine shrimp or bloodworms. Feed them 2-3 times daily to ensure health. Furthermore, varying their diet boosts color vibrancy. Consequently, a balanced feeding routine keeps them active and thriving in your tank.
Breeding and Behaviour of Assorted Angelfish
Angelfish form monogamous pairs and lay eggs on vertical surfaces. During breeding, they often become territorial. Nevertheless, their graceful swimming captivates aquarists. In fact, observing their social interactions adds excitement. Therefore, monitor their behavior closely to maintain a harmonious tank, ensuring Assorted Angelfish thrive.
